Chihiro, a high school girl, is interested in a boy in her dancing class, but he does not feel the same way. After attempting to meet someone new on a dating website, she starts talking to Makoto, who is asking around about a string of suicides. Chihiro agrees to meet with him, as she knew one of the girls that recently passed. Makoto explains to her that his late girlfriend took her own life, and he is trying to figure out what drives people to the end.
After the two begin to connect a bit, Makoto gets an e-mail from Chihiro, saying she doesn't see a purpose to continue living. Chihiro goes up to the rooftop as if someone attracts her to it. At the last moment, Makoto holds on to Chihiro and tells her she still has reasons to live.
Chihiro and Makoto make love happily, and then they walk through a crowd on the street of Shibuya, spending New Year’s Day together.
